With October fastly approaching and the weather warming up (at last!), the vines are springing back into life and bud burst is well under way. Many of the regions chardonnay’s had an early bud burst but due to the recent fluctuating overcast and wet weather it has been a rather slow and gradual process. Once the soil temperatures begin to increase we are anticipating a vigorous early season growth  due to the high soil water content from the winter rains.

Forecast

As October approaches and the buds are beginning to burst we are hoping for some finer weather to accelerate vine growth and dry out the paddocks to allow better access for tractor operations such as spraying and slashing. The forecast for the next 2 weeks however indicates more wet and cold weather is on its way with two cold fronts moving over the south-west in the next few days bringing a chance of thunderstorms and hail.
